Frequently Asked Questions
How does PicPortal work?
PicPortal allows photographers to send images directly from their camera to a live gallery in real time using FTP settings already built into most cameras.
What do I need in order to use PicPortal?
You only need three things to use PicPortal. First, a PicPortal account. Second, a compatible camera that has FTP functionality. Third, a Wi-Fi connection for your camera. For Wi-Fi, you can use the Wi-Fi found in arenas or stadiums, a phone hotspot, portable hotspot, travel router, or a ethernet connection if you have access to one.
Can I send RAW images using PicPortal?
Yes. However, we recommend sending JPG images because sending RAW files is very slow. The larger the file size, the longer it will take to send. Additionally, when they appear in your gallery, you'll need to download them to view them.
What do the transfer limits mean?
The transfer limits determine how many images you can send from your camera(s) to PicPortal each month. You can make as many galleries as you would like and it doesn't matter how many times you download images from galleries. Your transfer limit resets to 0 at the start of each billing period.
Can I upgrade my account?
Yes, you can upgrade your account or storage at any time by going to your profile page from within your account and updating your subscription.
Can I connect multiple cameras to the same gallery?
Yes, you can connect as many cameras as you wish to a single gallery. You can use the same camera connection username and password across multiple cameras.
Can I send images from Photo Mechanic to PicPortal?
Yes, Photo Mechanic is compatible with PicPortal. Watch this video to learn how to set it up.
Do I need to buy anything for my camera to make it work with PicPortal?
See the "Compatible Cameras" page to see if your camera will work with PicPortal. Most professional cameras do not require you to purchase anything to allow it to work with PicPortal. Some cameras require an attachable transceiver.
How does the free trial work?

Once your free trial ends, you will automatically be billed for the subscription that you registered for. You may upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your subscription at any time.
